Day 3 – COMPLETE JOY I John 1:4
A “40-DAY” STUDY OF I, II, III JOHN
By Pastor Jenny McCord
“4 We write this to make our joy complete.” John says the purpose of writing is to make our joy complete. When we’re doing what God would have us to do, joy should be our outcome. In obeying God we should expect to experience joy. Joy is more than happiness. People are often happy, but not necessarily joyful. Joy brings immense satisfaction or intense, ecstatic happiness. Accomplishments often bring complete joy. Situations can also bring complete joy, usually when they involve other friends or family. Christian fellowship, as described by John from verse 3, fills us with joy. Oftentimes joy comes when connecting with God. Sitting with Jesus and basking in His presence fills us with an indescribable joy. Joy is one of the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of Your Word, for the truth it contains, and for the testimony of those who witnessed the life of Your Son. I thank You that these things have been written to us so that our joy may be full. Lord, I confess that I often look for joy in temporary, earthly things, only to find myself empty and restless. Today, I ask that You would fill my heart with the complete, perfect, and everlasting joy that can only come from true fellowship with You and Your Son, Jesus Christ. Let this joy be my strength today, regardless of my circumstances. May I walk in the light of Your love and truth, allowing Your word to transform my heart and bring my joy to its fullness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Many Blessings to you, Pr Jenny
