Day 18 – JESUS’ TWO COMMANDS
I John 3:21-24: “ 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.”
The first command is to believe in Jesus the Christ. Christ describes who Jesus is. He is the Messiah, the Savior. The second command is to love one another. This is a recurring and continuous theme for John.
Heavenly Father, as we come before You, we thank You that if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before You. We ask that You grant us the grace to continually keep Your commandments and do what pleases You in Your sight. We pray that You would help us to believe in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another just as He has commanded us. As we strive to walk in this love, we pray that You would dwell deeply within us, and that we may know and be assured that You abide in us by the Holy Spirit You have given us. Amen.
Have a blessed day, Pr Jenny
